help > newbie > note --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+ Items of note to all players --+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+ -ALL PLAYERS LEVEL 5 AND UNDER ENJOY THE PROTECTION OF THE GODS. Type "help new" and "help pk" for more information on what this means. The most important thing is that as long as you do not loose your protection from the gods, NOBODY may kill you or in any way contribute to your death. This rule is strictly enforced. Report any problems to a member of the Administration through mudmail (post office is s 2e of the CoT by mailing to "admin". We want you to have fun, and not worry about getting pk'ed for the first few levels. In addition to this, you will enjoy use of the 'town' command. Simply type town, and you will be transported back to the middle of town. Also see, help town. Also in addition to this, you will enjoy use of the 'guild' command. Simply type guild, and you will be transported back to your guild. Alos see, help guild -READ WHAT HELP FILES YOU CAN. It may be tedious, but there is some useful stuff there. (learn how the "hp" and "wimpy" commands work. Both of these will help prevent unwanted deaths. use the "check" command too) -ALWAYS USE THE 'CONSIDER' COMMAND ON MONSTER BEFORE YOU EVER START TO KILL IT! So many new players don't do this, and end up getting killed by monsters that are WAY out of their league, don't be one of them. -DON'T EXPLORE TOO FAR AFIELD (unless you want to tempt fate). This is optional, but many a new player has met their death because they were wandering around in an unknown area and lost, and stumbled upon an aggressive monster. It's usually best to wait till you know what's what, before attempting long treks. HOWEVER, if you happen to meet your demise in some unfortunate "hunting accident," help is not far away. You can return to the nearest church with the "temple" command and get a free ressurection by "pray"ing. -ONLY SOME OF YOUR EQUIPMENT IS SAVED WHEN YOU QUIT When you quit, any items that are not worn, wielded, or marked (see help mark) are dropped in the room where you quit. In addition, there are certain items which cannot be saved; those items will also be marked. The 'inventory save' command will show you which items you will save when you quit. -DARKNESS SUCKS (if you can't see in the dark). Every once in a while, a room that was once lighted, will turn dark on you. Type "time" and see what time of day it is. A lot of areas go dark at night so always carry a light source or two with you. Note: Newbie torches don't always last all that long. Magic torches (cheap, and found in most item shops) are a good bet. |
