The issues isn't hp loss its the amount of sp it takes to net a kill
compared to other classes. I've stated in about 3 different posts it takes
appropriately 75% of my sp to kill a single equal level mob and that
recovery/downtime is a primary concern. Particularly when feed was giving
9 sp but just eating the corpse was giving about 4 times that (with no
delay/no hauling cocoon).
As you noted its not just recovering from the bite damage but having to
then repair/reweb.
I've hero'd a thief before and thug. I've even got a Hero Shikaku
currently! So I'm versed in bouncing in and out of a room. It's boring but
particularly effective since thief only has to mitigate their hitbacks.
Thief's free backstab gives them infinite access to moderate damage.
The only spider I see on your list is a playtest class that never made it
to live and so while I'm sure you know now to type n<semicolon>do backstab
target<semicolon>south until all the mobs are dead doesn't translate
cleanly here b/c spiders run out of sp after about one kill. :)
