Armour wear rules and PK checks cleaned up
    Note 239 of 248 · by Wildcat · 04-Nov-2026 4:46pm
Armour now decides who can wear it from one shared set of rules (race, class and subclass), instead of an old hard-coded list of class numbers. All three armour bases (/obj/armour and both gen_eq armour inherits) use it. For every character with a current subclass nothing changes: the same characters were checked before and after and got identical answers for every armour type, metal or not. Characters without a current subclass now follow their class's armour rules instead of the old per-class list, which refused dragons, fey, monsters and horrors almost everything. Beginners follow their race's rules as before. Fixed: checking whether you could wear an armour could leave the game treating you as the current player after the check (a stray this_player). Wizards can now wear any armour, as they can already wield any weapon. PK: the Spy-vs-Spy rule and the Chaosmage exceptions (may attack immortals, ignores PK OFF) now live in the Spy and Chaosmage subclass shadows instead of being hard-coded in the player object. The rules themselves are unchanged. Players pick this up on their next login. Armour items already loaded keep the old check until they are reloaded or the next reboot.
