Title : thrikheen and ghants

After carefully studying the mild reaction that the Tsunami populace had to
the orcs' revelation last week, the "thrikheen" have decided that the time
is ripe for them to reveal their own racial affiliations.

Thrikheen are ghants. They've been using strange, alien concoctions to
alter their carapaces, so that they could pass among humans as a seperate
"civilized" race. This concoction made them look sufficiently different
from the well-known ghants of Tsunami Island, but it also weakened their
exoskeletons.

-------------
the skinny:
ghants are just like thriks were, w the following changes:

- ghants have the 'carapace' skill, which gauges how much ac boost they
get. a low-level ghant will have less ac, but a level 19 ghant will have
more ac than a level 19 thrik had. low-con classes will have slightly more
ac boost than a thrik, while high-con classes will have almost 2x the ac
boost.

- they now have moderate night-sight, and are slightly uncomfortable in
bright lights: they get a penalty to their combat skill in bright lights,
similar to drow.

- ghants have boosts to a few additional skills that seemed appropriate.

- ghants can no longer wear eyewear, but they can wear *4* rings. let's
see how abusable that is. :)

-------------
why ghants? here's the thought process.

Thriks are based on a bug-man race from the Dark Sun D&D setting (which is
a fairly cool setting). However, the race is "Thri-Kreen" or "Thrikreen",
not "Thrikheen". If you're going to base a mud race on a partcular
source, you should at least spell it right.

So when I started futzing w/ thriks, I decided to fix their name. But if
I'm going to fix their name, why not fix their name "for real", and make
them part of the existing tsunami background?

Ghants are a well-established NPC race, who have a well-travelled area
that's been around for many years. We have no such thrikheen populace. I
would probably do the same with nekojin, muuls, and a number of other
races if I could.

Plus... ghants are just cooler. IMHO, of course. :)

If, after a few weeks, the majority of you newly-converted ghants really
hate your race, i'll turn you all back into thriks. mudmail me your
opinion.

ps. bug any problems you see for me pls, obviously. ;)
