OK, so I've changed slightly the XP you lose when you die. I've had a flood of requests for this change come in with a lot of very good arguments. I think this was an oversight originally in our newer xp loss and I'll explain why.
Firstly, recall that your xp loss on death is capped at 1mil xp. 25% of that you cannot recover, %25 of it you can get back from a great top-notch rez, and 50% of that you can get back from having a wicked-good standing with your god.
OK, so here's the problem with that. Our previous XP loss was capped at 500k. The problem we were seeing is people were having no resurrection scrolls and not enough clerics on / hell, even existing for all the jihads. This was seen at least several times in PK fights to be a real problem. The deal is, if you die you basicaly had to sit out completely else pay a massive XP penalty - meaning more than you used to have to pay.
I decided to change this so that it's now capped at 500k xp loss. Firstly, I did not reduce the xp loss at other levels - the CAP is just changed. So think of this change as really mainly effecting heros. Secondly, what I like about this is that it ENCOURAGES people to participate in the jihad to increase their standing so that they can pay less and less for a death but *DOES NOT* penalize them (overly) if they have not chosen to participate. We all know that jihad standing has many good benefits, what I dislike about the previous system was that it FORCED you to have a good standing or else get raped. Also, there are very few players out there that really have a good enough standing for this to matter and now with this new system I hope more and more people will boost their standing so as to make their deaths less painful.
This should allow PKers to get right back into the fight for the same old XP loss of 500k, this hopefully will be more reasonable and in line with the potential XP gain from PKing.
Hopefully that makes sense to everyone.
