BEHOLDER (horror subclass)

The beholder is a creature that appears to be little more than
a giant, floating sphere with one massive eyeball, a huge
tooth-filled maw, and several smaller eyestalks sprouting off
the body. While physically very weak, their magical abilities
far surpass that of most ordinary creatures.

Having no legs, their only method of locomotion is a hovering
levitation that allows them to bypass ground-based obstacles.
A beholder's scale-like skin provides them with some defense
from physical attacks, but is far less protective than most
monster hides.

A beholder starts with few spells initially and gains more as
it grows new eyestalks. The new eyestalks, however, are very
sensitive to light and therefore eyestalk-gained spells are
much less powerful when the beholder is blind.

Finally, with multiple eyestalks, a beholder has the ability
to look in virtually all directions simultaneously and thus
has a heightened awareness of its surroundings.

Beholders sprout additional eyestalks as they grow in power. Gaining random
spells from the list below. A spell from each group are gained on the level 
indicate. Additional spells will be granted at 19+3. Spells for all 
categories (except except level 2) shall be gained at 19+4.
