To avoid sending anyone's conspiracy detectors whirling, I have been
standardizing how some common tasks on equipment are handled (think weapon
hit bonuses, skill boosts, stat boosts and resistance boosts), and now
that the code is in place I am converting many existing items. It's
possible this will result in some small behavioral differences, but for
the most part things should continue as-is.

This involves editing something on the order of hundreds of items, and as
such I will most likely ignore any questions about whether I've changed a
given item unless accompanied by a statemet about how it behaved
previously and how it is currently behaving. I want you to feel free to
come to me if an item is misbehaving, but I also want to be clear that
this is already a very time-intensive process and I won't be particularly
pleased with anyone trying to get me to waste time chasing vague
suspicions that a weapon is ever so slightly different than it used to be.

These are not the *primary* reasons for this post, however. The primary
reason is that using the proper channels to handle many forms of bonus
will result (in some cases immediately, and in other cases down the road)
in some equipment having more ego than it has had in the past. This is due
to the bonuses being properly registered and accounted for. In the
long-term I consider ego (but not the removal thereof) and level-based EQ
restrictions to be open to debate at the system level, but it's going to
be impractical at the moment to consider the validity of each ite's ego.
